War and Peacekeeping

One of the things the senior staff meeting had done was jog Bill's memory that he'd yet to appear for his inaugural physical. With that in mind, one morning before heading to the gym Bill made his way down to sickbay. Things were quiet now and it seemed like as good a time as any to get the physical out of the way.
"Doctor Morgan? You home?" Bill called out as he stepped through the doors.
Calvin stepped out of his office. He had the distinct ability of looking freshly prepared yet professionally unkempt. His teal undershirt was pushed up above his elbows, his jacket having been brought to Sickbay but yet to be put on. "Ah please, Doctor, or Calvin, formalities were never my thing, and rank is too pompous for my taste. I am home though, what can I do for you?" He closed the distance to a friendly social level.
Bill was slightly jealous of the Doctor's ability to master the professionally unkempt look, it being one he'd never succeeded in pulling off. “Just looking to book a slot for my physical.” He decided not to bring up the fact it was now overdue.
"Overachiever or over due? It's always one of the two," He prodded, chuckling to himself. "Seems like you booked now. Hop up on the bio bed," he said motioning to the closest one. He walked over to the console to bring the diagnostics online. "Name please."
"Overdue. Feels like the classy thing to do would be not to draw attention to it." Bill joked as he hopped onto the bed. "William Buchanan Rogers."
Calvin typed in the name and brought up Roger's file as he began the diagnostics. "Like doctors don't avoid physicals as well," He said with a wink. "Any changes in your last physical? Symptoms, pains, probl..." He cut off while he re-read part of his patient's chart, looking up at him. "problems?" He walked around the console grabbing the tricorder. "You look fantastic for your age." He said with a grin.
"Thanks, what can I say? I was built to last." Undergoing physicals always reminded Bill of undergoing his genetic treatments. It was one of the reasons he was happy to let physicals go late. "Well there is this:" He held out his left forearm for Calvin to see. "There was a scar there last week. Had it since I was 14."
"Was?" He asked as he got to his patient's side and looked down. "Ah, was." He gently held onto his wrist so he could maneuver the arm back and forth while the other hand felt the forearm. After a moment of mumbling to himself and palpating it, he opened up the tricorder and scanned it. "Quite intriguing, quite." He finally said looking up at him. "Just disappeared? Did it fade? Or all of a sudden?"
Reflexively Bill made a fist and tensed the muscles in his arm. "All of a sudden. Itched a bit the week before, then I woke up one morning and it was gone."
“Fascinating,” Calvin replied, grabbing his PaDD to make a few quick notes. “Why don’t we do the rest of your physical and we’ll figure this one out after that?” He stated rhetorically. He explained his process starting up at the head, beginning to do his routine checks with a mixture of scanning with the tricorder and palpation.
"Just don't look to me for an explanation for anything else you find." Bill laughed. "Docs did a lot of stuff to me back in the day that I don't understand."
As he went through his examination, his hands and assessments working like clockwork, he stopped for a moment, "To be honest, I'm going to have to take some time with your file and figure it out. You my friend are new territory for me." As he finished up he set the tricorder to the side and picked up the PaDD to input some information. "Everything seems to check out, however like I said, I'm going to go through your previous records to look into the augments and how they affect your system. However your scar disappearing, most intriguing."
"And here I thought my ancient astronaut experience was my most intriguing feature." Bill joked as he sat up. "From what TD told me not many records from the GenEng program survived this far into the future."
Calvin shrugged at the first statement, "We all have our interests." He finished up with the PaDD and set it and the medical tricorder back in their spots on the console. "I will do some research and see what I can find. Otherwise for now you are all set. Any questions?"
"Nothing springs to mind." Bill replied as he stood up from the bed. "Thanks for your time, Doc."
"Fantastic, you're quite welcome. Don't be a stranger. As soon as I have information on your scar I'll give you a ring," He stated holding his hand out.
Bill shook the offered hand. He made certain to moderate his grip strength to avoid hurting the Doctor whilst still giving a firm hand shake. "Finally, and idiom I don't have to work out from context." he chuckled.
