Personal History He was born in 2361 on Starbase 74 to Starfleet Officers on assignment at the station. He spent the majority of his childhood there because his parents continued to ask for no relocation so that he could have a stable childhood. As a child he was curious, and would often get in trouble for going out and wandering the station when he was supposed to be in quarters. In his teenage years he met his first mentor, a paramedic working on the station. He began spending any free time he had with his mentor, eventually being granted a cadet status until he was old enough to go to the academy.

It was during one of these medical responses as a cadet that Calvin lost his vision. They went into an area of the starbase that had been damaged by the rupture of an EPS conduit. While D.C. teams were securing the power and beginning to shore up the area, he and several other started tending to their patients. A crackle and hissing noise came from above him, and he looked up right as another conduit let go. Seering light and sparks emitted from it, burning him and destroying both his eyes. After several consults, it was decided that his eyes would most likely not be savable, and he was fitted with cybernetic eyes.

He was sent to Starfleet Medical and eventually graduated as a NCO rated as a Paramedic/Corpsman. His first station was on Earth working at Starfleet Medical, but he quickly asked for transfer, not enjoying living on a planet. From there he worked until being granted the opportunity to train as a Doctor on Vulcan to expand his skill set. After graduating school he specialized and qualified in Emergency Medicine, among some dabbling in other specialities.

Starfleet transferred him back to Starfleet Academy so he could go through OCS and be commissioned as an officer. After graduation he was assigned to the USS Venture, where he worked mostly in the sickbay, but would lead medical expeditions for emergency responses when he was called for. Between his training in first response as a paramedic and his more in-depth training in emergency medicine as a Doctor, he found a solid balance in the ability to work for short and long term outside the sickbay in potentially unstable conditions.
