Let it Snow

Mission:
Enforced Intermission
Location: The Raging Deity Lounge
The lounge was normally a place where people were happy and relaxed, but it seemed at the moment that was not going to be the case. Indeed, the mood inside the lounge was surprisingly quiet and tense. The bulk of the furniture was gone as the holographic emitters were offline, meaning there was little in the way of comfort, even less since snow, or at least, what appeared to be snow, had started falling from the air vents in the ceiling.
"The doors are malfunctioning," Ashe muttered darkly as she rubbed her arms rapidly. "The bar shares a walk in cold room with the mess hall, we can try getting out that way, we just have to go through the cold room." She paused and brushed more snow flakes from her hair. "Though, you know, at this point the cold room is probably warmer than the lounge is."
Linza was completely frozen. Her outfit of choice was not meant for snow and cold. She wasn't planning on going out, let alone being in the snow. "How would a cold room be warmer? It is so bloody cold in here...so much for the drink..."
Callisi shivered a bit, not liking this situation one bit. She turned towards Linza, "Come along, it's not going to get any warmer in here." and the cyclopean rabbitess went so far as to remove her flight jacket to offer her. The jacket wasn't much, and it had the patches of wings and campaigns that would make no real sense to her, in a language that wasn't spoken, but the universal use of a jacket was warmth.
Her fur would keep her warm for a bit, and the jacket would hold onto that. "We need to move. The longer we stay in here, the colder it's going to get."
"I totally agree." Alexis said, shuddering with the cold. Like Linza, she wasn't dressed for this, but hers was probably far worse: She was wearing an evening gown, what she usually wore to the Raging Deity just to have a change from the uniforms. At least the one she'd chosen for the day had long sleeves, a rarity in her wardrobe, "At least it's snow and not sleet, sleet would just outright freeze us."
"Ashe, do you have any actual alcohol on hand?" the rabbitess asked, going over something of a plan. "Not for drinking, maybe once we're out of here. If the doors or hinges are frozen, we can thaw them." a pause, "Forward observation recon unit. It's my job to think like that."
Taking the offered jacked, Linza gave a small smile, "Thanks. But yes, we need to get moving somewhere, anywhere, that it isn't weather like this."
Ashe nodded slightly. "In the cold room there's some vodka that will probably work, otherwise anything on the lower shelves behind the bar." She moved to behind the bar, pulling out bottles and setting them up on the bar in a line. "Take your pick."
Callisi took a pair of bottles from the bar top, not paying attention to quality or brand. In fact, she was looking for the larger bottles, as they'd get them further. "Alright, we're ready for anything. Lead on."
"Up or down?" Alexis asked, "Up means the science labs where it should be warm enough to not freeze like here, down means well, down..." She used a thumb to point up, "I'm not a fan of the ship trying to kill us right now, I just wanted to say..."
Callisi inclined her head upwards, "Up sounds perfect." Science certainly sounded better than Not-Science at the moment.
"Completely agree on the up," Lin said as she pulled the coat tighter around her. "And hope that it isn't just as cold there."
Lexi smiled as she led the way towards the turbo lift and hit the summoning button, which didn’t light up, but put on a smile as she hit it again. “When I was up there about an hour ago, right before I came here, it was a wonderful seventy-five degree, not rainy degrees.” She hit the button again, still nothing, “And does anyone have snowshoes so we can make it to the ladders?”
"I have big feet, does that count?" Callisi asked as she inspected the scene. "If you're worried about your shoes and the snow, I'd worry more about your shoes and the ladder." she pointed out. "This is why I hate raised heel shoes." the cyclopean rabbitess muttered to herself.
The sound of the comm system activating ship wide gave them all momentary pause as a familiar voice spoke.
"All hands, this is Captain Abigail Laurens. All non essential personnel are hereby ordered to immediately begin evacuation procedures and report to your nearest evacuation point. I repeat, all non essential personnel are hereby ordered to immediately begin evacuation procedures and report to your nearest evacuation point. This is not a drill."
"Well," Ashe commented, turning to look at the others. "I guess that changes our plans just a little."
Alexis exhaled and in a smooth evolution stepped out of her heels and bent to pick them up by the straps, "I have to go up one level." She said calmly, "And pick up some documents and ensure that all of my people are obeying the evacuation order. Warrant Officer, I want you to take the civilians to the escape pods on this deck before you report to your own evacuation location." Her eyes swept over Linza and Ashe, "I'm sorry, but you two are going straight to the pods, as the Captain said, this is not a drill."
Callisi gave a nod, "Aye." she commented simply, then turned to Linza and Ashe, "I'll make sure you arrive safe. Step lively and we'll be alright."
Around the corner came Calvin, who was dressed semi warmly, which he counted as lucky considering the current climate. "I will join your trek up one deck if you don't mind," He said as he joined the others standing there.
“Of course, sir, this way.” Alexis smiles at the doc and gave a wave to the other three, with the hand holding the shoes, and took off at a brisk walk towards where she knew the ladder to the deck above would be located. She only gave a brief look over her shoulder with a bit of jealousy as she went, “Need something from Deck Four, sir?”
“Oh, I figure Sickbay would probably be a good place for me for at least a little bit. Try to get the injured out and figure out what the heck is going on as well,” Calvin replied with a smile, an air of indifference contrary to what the situation would call for. His coping mechanism, sarcasm and humor.
Hearing the call, Linza frowned. "I can help...I'm former Starfleet. I...I want to help." She knew this wasn't going to work, but she wanted to try. She gave a heavy sigh, as she didn't want to evac, but slowly followed anyways.
Callisi gave a nod, "That's the kind of mentality we'll need once we get up there." she pointed out, "That willingness to help, that readiness. There will be frightened people up there, scared to leave. We have to show them that there's nothing to be afraid of." perhaps her ploy worked too well.
“What department?” Calvin asked glancing over at Linza.
Lin looked back over hearing the question, "Former tac/sec. Not that I have a commission anymore, but that's for another time."
Ashe paused before she started the climb. "Y'all go ahead, I'm gonna run back to the deity and grab some things before we evacuate, I'll catch you all on the flip side." She gave a grin and a wave before she turned on her heel and started back along the corridor they had just walked along.
"Nuh uh." Callisi shook her head, "No one goes anywhere alone. Not during an emergency evac." while she was a little surprised that someone would even suggest it, this was Starfleet. They were a little more relaxed.
Lexi looked slightly apologetically at Calvin, he was now the senior officer, “Go with her, Warrant Officer. Five minutes then make her leave if you have to.” She gave the pilot a smile, “Be safe and gods bless.” Her gaze returned to Linza with a smile, “Well, Linza, you’re with me and the Doc. I can use you to help herd some cats that are going to want to save everything in the Science department that can be moved, chivvy them along, if you feel up to it?”
"Whatever help you want, I'll give it," Linza said as she looked those leaving. "Stay safe." She then turned back to Lexi. "Lead the way, and let me know who to get to the right places."
Callisi gave a nod to the group, then turned to follow Ashe, "Whatever you need, an extra pair of hands will help you carry it." she held up a hand, "And no, please don't try to talk me out of it. Helping isn't an obligation, it's a duty." she commented, "And to a Daughter of Ts'usu, duty is a powerful feeling. Please, after you."
Waiting until Callisi fell in stop beside her and the duo continued walking, Ashe turned to the Rabbitess with a curious expression. "Is she always so damned bossy?"
