Scuttlebut

Mission:
Dead Moon
Location: Sickbay
Sickbay was busier than she had seen so far with a number of beds occupied and staff rushing from one patient to the next. After reassuring the first few medical staff she encountered that she was actually quite fine, she did not need medical attention and this was purely a social visit, Ashe finally found Calvin in his office.
Slipping through the door, she closed it quietly behind her and offered him a grin. "Scuttlebut says you need a brownie, a bottle of whiskey and a hug, so which do you want first?"
Calvin's desk was a mess of PaDDs and other assortments, including a hypospray that if asked he couldn't even tell you how it followed him into the office. His lab coat was draped over the back of his desk, his uniform coat on the coat rack in the corner. He had pushed his sleeves up above his elbows, and his pips were on his desk under the monitor.
At first Calvin didn't even look up, putting a finger on the PaDD while running his other hand through his short hair, feeling the alternating softness and prickliness. He finally looked up and smiled. "Scuttlebutt is a dangerous thing to believe, however I wouldn't say no to any of those things. The order of those things could have profound consequences though," a wink finishing the statement.
"Why not start with the brownie?" He finally said, gesturing to her to sit down at the desk with him.
Setting the basket down on the chair, Ashe pulled out two small containers and set them on the desk in front of him, one containing a still warm chocolate fudge brownie and the other filled with slightly sweetened whipped cream.
"Has it been that bad?" She asked, moving the basket to the floor and pulling the chair to the side of the desk.
"Well the ship and crew are definitely due for some R&R and a minor refit, that's for sure," He replied taking his brownie and some of the whip cream. "Sickbay has barely had time in-between these forays to restock, inventory, and set for the next." He took a bite, eating it slowly to savor the taste. "It is what it is though, we rise to the occasion. Ship can't function without a healthy crew."
"Crew can't stay healthy without a functioning doctor," Ashe replied pointedly. "And brownies and whiskey will only get you so far," she teased lightly.
"Well that's what the hug is for, right?" He teased back with a wink. "I'm functioning fine for the moment. Just a little behind on paperwork at the moment. Head Nurse is down at the moment for a day or so, and I'm still trying to figure out our furry ear friends." He shrugged, leaned back in his chair and took another bite of the brownie. "You outdid yourself again by the way."
"Thanks, but really anyone can whip up a brownie," she said with a shrug. "I'm glad you like it though. So what's happening with the ship? The gossip mill is in full force, as I'm sure you can imagine," she said with a laugh. "I think the best I've heard yet was that it was some kind of Romulan stealth vessel from the future and we're all about to get caught by the time time police so all these memories will be erased and none of this will ever have happened."
"Oh man, if we all are getting our minds erased, I've got stuff I definitely want to do before it happens so I can't get in trouble," Calvin leaned forward to set the brownie down after taking another bite, having almost finished it. "Honestly, I only know bits and pieces, and more honestly, I dunno how much of it I'm supposed to know right now. However no time police as of right now that I'm aware of being around, or being needed."
"Well, I guess if there's no time police and our memories aren't going to be wiped I suppose I should behave and not get into mischief that I may not want to remember," she said with a teasing grin. "But I'm guessing given we're not at red alert and I've been given clearance to reopen the lounge that there isn't too much danger."
"What fun is behaving?" Calvin responded leaning back in his chair and putting his hands behind his head. "That's good you are allowed to reopen. I'm sure it makes everyone happier to have some place to decompress."
"I think it's more that they just want the trouble confined to one location," Ashe replied with a laugh. "But it gives me something to do at least. Being confined to quarters, even though it was only a few hours, was really kind of painful. I don't think I've spent more than a couple of hours a day in my quarters since I got here. I didn't realise how damned boring it was!"
Calvin smiled, thinking about the smaller vessels and places he's worked. "Physical space can be limiting if it overtakes you, yes. Well at least you aren't stuck in your quarters anymore. Maybe I'll come down and cause some trouble for you later."
"Now that," Ashe said with a grin as she stood up. "That most definitely sounds like a plan. I'll have an old fashioned waiting for you."
"Welp," Calvin said finishing the last of the brownie, "I guess I should pretend to work again. Feel free to visit anytime though," He said with a smile.
"Aww, aren't you sweet," Ashe replied with a soft laugh. "I may just take you up on that. Be safe Doc." Without waiting for a reply, she waved and headed back to the lounge.
