Oil and Water? Or a House on Fire!

Mission:
War and Peacekeeping
Location: Security Offices
Amandas next stop was to meet the Chief of Tactical and Security operations onboard, Lieutenant Alanah Matashi. She walked upto the Lieutenants office, which had an open door to it, and walked just across the Threshold. She could see through the frosted glass, just an outline of the officer. "Knock Knock." She called out, as she stepped into the office.
Alanah was going over the mound of reports she had piling up. When she heard someone come in she looked up. "Captain, what brings you to my deck?" She said with a smile.
Amanda walked into the office and stood before the Security Officer. “Just thought I’d put a face to the name, and discuss any plans you may have for our departments, as we’ll be working together quite a lot from what I understand.”
"This is actually my first posting that had a Marine unit on board." Alanah replied offering her hand to the Marine. "Did you have something in mind that need to be discussed."
Amanda shook the outstretched hand, smiling. “I’ve never worked on a starship before, so it’s an experience for me also.” She answered. “So I think we should aim to work together. What would you think about having some joint training exercises between the two departments?” She asked.
"I think that's always a good idea. Has the CO talked to you about the separation of our responsibilities?" Alanah was curious because she wondered where that line was.
Amanda shook her head. "No, although I believe she wanted us to discuss the boundaries between ourselves, to work out what we want to do. I think you should primarily handle shipboard things, and if I work on the ground based work, how does that sound?" She asked.
"I am fine with that but my team will have a detail any time the CO or XO go on an away team." Alanah countered with a dealbreaker for her.
"Of course, and as I said, if you need any assistance onboard I will happily lend you some of my marines to assist you. I think it would be good to have an opportunity for our departments to exchange for a day, to see how we do things and vice versa. How does that sit with you?" Amanda suggested.
She thought about it for a brief second. "I agree. It would be beneficial and will help if and when we are involved in joint operations."
Amanda nodded, happy that the meeting had gone well. "Splendid, i'm glad we're both in agreement. I have to say I wasn't expecting this meeting to go so well. My previous experience with Starfleet Security officers was very Anti-Marine." She smiled. "Thank you for showing me there is a different set of officers."
"I figured it the best way to make this work. Most the stories I have heard about Green shirts is how your very overbearing and think you run the show." Alanah admitted. "I was hoping that wasn't true and so far it is not."
“Definitely not in my case, I’d much rather work together on something than lead it myself. Two mind are always better than one in my opinion.” She smiled. “Now, is there anything else we need to discuss?” She asked.
"I think once we get going and get to know our teams some joint training would be good but I know the first bit I will be working to get my team working as a unit first." Alanah was pleasantly surprised by how well this was going.
"Agreed. My team are a bit rough around the edges, but with a bit of training I think I can form them into a good unit." She replied.
"I am glad we had this meeting. I look forward to our two teams working to support each other and the ship." Alanah said with a smile
"As do I, and thank you for your time Lieutenant. I will leave you to get back to what you were doing." Amanda said with a smile, before standing and heading back out the door.
