Mission:
New Beginnings
Location: USS Astraea-Ready Room
Her recovery from her wounds had been extensive so much so that she was ship off the ship and to a local Starbase infirmary. After she had started to recover from then injuries she sustained during the 'Dark Moon" mission she also had to go through quite a bit of physical therapy before they would clear her for duty. Since then the Astraea had been replaced with a shinny new ship and it seems she got cleared just in time for its launch.
Alanah looked around as she came onboard and was taking it all in. She figured it would be best if she checked in with Abigail before anyone else. Let her know that she had been cleared and was ready to get back to it. After giving her bags to the quartermaster she made her way through the maze of the new ship on her way to the Captain's Ready room. As she found herself at the door she hoped some of her previous actions had not hardened the Captain's desire for her to still serve on this fancy new ship. She figured better now then never and pushed the button to the door chime.
"Enter!" Abigail looked up from the PaDD she had been scanning as the doors parted, surprise clear on her face as the familiar figure appeared before her. "Lieutenant Matashi?" The hint of disbelief was clear in her voice until she smiled brightly. "It's nice to see you back with us again. Come, take a seat, can I get you a drink?" Ignoring the several half empty, very cold cups of chai on her desk, Abigail grinned. "I desperately need chai!"
"Sure, I will take one as well.". She replied with a grin as she made her way to the seat. Glad for the warmish welcome. "Well medical has given me a clean bill and I am ready to get back to work. I still have some physical therapy I have to do but can set that up with sickbay."
"I'm sure that Commander Morgan will be more than willing to help set you up," Abigail replied, replicating the two chai's and carrying them back to the desk, leaning across to set one in front of the security officer. "We're being reassigned directly to the Delta Quadrant, so I would recommend that you check in with Commander Morgan next so that he can make sure he has anything he needs regarding your care from Medical in case we experience communications blackouts."
"It's good to hear that Cal is still here. I will make sure to check in with him straight away.". She said with a fond memory of Calvin. "So Delta quadrant, huh? I heard the catapult was broke how we getting there?"
"Commander Gail has arranged passage through the Pathstone Project for us," Abigail replied, leaning back in her seat and crossing her legs, holding the cup against her lips and blowing softly across the hot liquid. "The best way to explain it is... well... it defies explanation," she shook her head. "It's a phenomenal contraption that creates stable wormholes." She paused momentarily. "With the destruction of the catapult we're being sent to negotiate with the Dalacari for the Federation to have access to the project."
"Oh man, that sounds like fun. The Federation's hope of exploring and expanding in the Delta rests on our shoulders.". She said with a grin. "So anything you need from me to get up to speed?"
"I'll send some data through to you for review, it will help make sure you're on top of things." Abigail paused. "But other than that, there isn't a great deal that will be of importance moving forward."
The chai had cooled enough Alanah took a big sip. "Thank you for the tea, and the warm welcome back. I will go see Cal straight away."
"I'm sure he'll appreciate the familiar face," Abigail said quietly. "Thank you Lieutenant... and welcome home."
