The New Ship

Location: the new ship

The shuttle dropped Will and Cole off on the new Astraea. They'd spent some time on Earth after the Ts'Usugi ship had dropped them off, with Will and the rest of the crew answering questions (being interrogated was more like it) from Starfleet Command over what had happened. Will had not heard back from anyone over what specifically the virus was (even though the Ts'Usugi captain - or "Shipmaster" in their terminology - had willingly, and promptly, handed over the information that they had).

He and Cole, though, had managed to get some time in to celebrate a bit of a milestone - Cole's 12th birthday. Cole hadn't wanted to make too big of a deal of it, but Will had tried his best to make the day eventful, especially after recent events.

Will had thought the ship was a monstrosity, to put it simply. He knew some who said that it was supposed to be a big deal to get a posting on an Odyssey-class ship, on par with (if not superseding) a posting on any other newer ship of the line. But for him, it just seemed like whomever in R&D who had been responsible for the ship's appearance had left it up to a bunch of adolescents to handle the job. It just seemed too unsightly to be allowed to exist.

After Will and Cole had grabbed their stuff and managed to make their way to their new quarters (which allowed for a bit of exercise, given the distance between the shutttlebay and the crew quarters), they entered and put their stuff in their respective bedroom. Since Will had receive a message that he was to immediately report to Captain Laurens when he arrived on the Astraea, he then inquired of the computer as to the location of the captain, and after being told she was in her readyroom, he headed out to the nearest turbolift.
