======

The trip to Kessik III was nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing to reflect upon. Aenera, Levine, and Gunnison. They were a motley bunch in Farizah's personal opinion yet professionally she had a bit of respect for them. The intel on Kessik III was simple enough: It was industrialized and had one primary colony. Tourist attractions? Probably few and far between. However, it did have a thriving marketplace.

Farizah Alani was a bit of a self-taught cultural connoisseur of sorts. During her time on Earth as a cadet she spent a lot of time hopping around from market place to market place on the historic streets and districts of Earth. As they approached this particular marketplace, it had brought back memories of Nishiki market and the Gion district of Kyoto. Areas of the market were within a covered structure, giving it a feel of a shotengai. "Spread out a bit" she said to the others. "Try to blend in, but stay vigilant," she added.

Shaille nodded. "You got it Lieutenant," she said with a grin. "Lunch anyone? Did the Doc say we were okay to eat the food?"

"I don't remember hims saying anything against it," Will said, "but if you do, I would suggest visiting sickbay after we get back and having them take a look at you, just to be on the safe side."

"Oooo, culinary exploration!" Alexis's eyes brightened up, "Perfect thing to do to get used to a place, I'm in!" She smiled at Will as she moved towards Shaille, "Besides, I've got a knack for figuring if something's good or not, and a scanner. I don't think we'll eat anything poisonous."

"Well then, ladies, knock yourselves out," Will said with a shrug. He had nothing against a bit of cuisine experimentation here and there. He remembered back to his time as a cadet at the Academy and some of the potluck get-togethers that he and some of the other cadets used to have, especially during study sessions, and some of the things that used to be brought. However, looking over some of the food that was present in the area, judging just the few open food stalls he saw, he wasn't too sure about whatever passed for cuisine here. He only hoped that whatever constituted sit-down restaurants were better. The Klingons might be right and every day was indeed a good day to die, but sometimes, Will thought, it was a better day to live (especially when it came to the idea of being taken out by some food-born parasite or bacteria).

He glanced around. If they were "officially" supposed to be there as traders, then at some point they would need to establish just where around here the trading occurred. He shifted his katana a bit as he moved around. While he'd brought it along in order to be armed (figuring that, if needed, it would be a lot easier to explain than a Starfleet phaser, though he was also discreetly carrying a type 1 phaser in an inner pocket in the light jacket that went to mid-thigh), he had originally been a bit nervous about carrying it, wondering if it would be a bit too much, even under the circumstances.

However, looking around, it seemed that he had little to worry about as far as both weapons in general and bladed weapons specifically. Besides a variety of rifles and side arms (in the form of both energy and projectile weapons) being displayed, there were others who were toting a variety of other weapons (or items that could certainly be used as weapons, such as a couple of individuals "casually" walking around with staffs), including at least two people with Klingon bat'leths and (perhaps somewhat surprisingly) several people who had an Andorian ushaan-tor.

Lexi edged away from the group with Shaille more or less in tow by sheer force of her own personality and presence, the expectation of Shaille coming with her being the driving force. "I see a cafe about halfway down the block, I'm thinking coffee and pastries?" She has to ask the security officer.

Shaille nodded. "Seats outside, we can watch the comings and goings from there, get an idea of the lay of the land. Lieutenant Alani, meet back here in an hour?"

With one last nod to Farizah, Shaille and Lexi started walking away from the rest of the away team. Once they had cleared a short distance, Shaille glanced back, making Alani was not watching them before she grinned at Lexi. "When we were walking in, I saw a market through a side hall, it looks like it may be a bit more promising than strolling around the general populous. I want to go check that out first."

"I am sooo already there." Alexis returned the grin with added interest, shopping always was a fun thing to do, even if it wasn't the top priority of the reasons they were down here, "Never know what we might find."

Farizah shook her head, not as a means of telling them no, but simply at their youthful energy. "We are still on an alien world. Do not lower your guard, but if you find any nice fabrics do let me know and remember to haggle, haggle, and haggle."
